The Skills you have learned as an athlete are valued

companies want to hire you as a recruiter

Recruiters function as job coaches, career starters and matchmakers. Recruiters help people reach their own life goals and can be a difference maker in the lives of others.

IS THIS CAREER RIGHT FOR ME?

What is recruiting?

As an athlete, you likely understand the recruiting process, or were recruited yourself to play your sport in college. Sports recruiters are looking for the best talent that will fit their team and where talent can be successful. An employment recruiter does the same thing but in a work environment.

As a recruiter, you find qualified employees for organizations that want to hire permanent or temporary staff. Recruiters then help those candidates through the hiring process and support onboarding. You work directly with hiring companies to understand their hiring needs, culture, strategies and management style. And then you make a match!

LIFESTYLE

With a work culture determined to help others enjoy their job and become successful in their careers, the recruiting and staffing industry defines success through a positive work/life balance. Recruiters are encouraging and collaborative with each other. On Glassdoor, recruiting and talent acquisition roles rank in the Top 10 jobs for work/life balance.

GROWTH

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that staffing jobs are among the top five job-growth sectors through 2026. Recruiting is a great career to start with and grow with, because there is an abundance of opportunity for growth! It’s a $150 billion industry that is growing rapidly. Recruiters can expect to see 10-15% compensation increases year over year with no end in sight.

COMPENSATION

Recruiting can be a very lucrative business. There is usually a commission component tied to recruiting that many former athletes like because it puts the control back in their own hands. You get out of recruiting what you put into it and are rewarded monetarily when you excel. Additionally, as you move up in the organization, you often have more and more opportunities for autonomy and flexibility.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE XPG RECRUIT ATHLETE EXPERIENCE?

WE WORK EXCLUSIVELY WITH FORMER ATHLETES

XPG Recruit Athlete is a unique type of recruiting company because we understand the value and experience of former athletes. We know that athletes have developed skills that make them valuable, so we work ONLY with companies that understand that value too. Each and every company with whom we work wants to hire former athletes for the interpersonal qualities that make them winners on and off the field.

WE ARE FORMER ATHLETES OURSELVES– AND ARE DEDICATED TO HELPING THEM SUCCEED IN CAREERS

The other part to our success is that the leaders of the XPG Recruit Athlete division are former athletes who enjoy their own roles as recruiters and are dedicated to helping former athletes succeed. Having been through a similar experience as you, our recruiters empathize in a way that makes the process more complete and finds better matches to employers.

They understand the challenges of transitioning to work careers after athletics have ended and of competing with other job searchers who may have had time for internships or specialized degrees.

BUT WILL I MAKE ANY MONEY?

BASE + COMMISSION

With the rapidly growing staffing and recruiting industry, this is an opportunity to benefit from your ability to compete and win. Most compensation packages start with a good base salary plus an option to earn more based on performance. The industry also offers opportunities for growth, usually early on, including growth into leadership roles if desired.

Within the first year, some of our entry level recruiters have made $80,000. Many of them have been promoted within the first year, some multiple times. With a commission structure, you have more control over what you make and the possibility to benefit significantly from high level performance.
